If you’re seeking privacy and luxury in equal measure, look to Waldeck Lodge. It’s a destination that sleeps up to 16 guests in the lap of luxury, set in 16,000 hectares of bushveld in the Khomas region of Namibia, just an hour’s drive from the capital, Windhoek.
The lodge can only be booked by one group – so tell family and friends. Complete privacy for your party is assured, and as for the luxury, well, every room and every feature of your stay here will ensure you all feel spoilt and special.
It’ll be just you and the wildlife when you stay here. Plus the large lodge team that will look after your every need 24/7 as required.
In total there are 6 suites, 4 of which have one bedroom, the other 2 each with 2 bedrooms. All of the beds are kingsize, and the suites have a snug, real fireplace, plenty of storage space, and an ensuite bathroom with a shower both inside and outside on the private veranda. There’s also a bath tub in one of the rooms in both of the 2-bed villas.
Wherever you stay, there’s no chance of anyone staying thirsty for long, thanks to all rooms having a minibar packed with all kinds of chilled drinks including premium teas. Plus there’s a Nespresso coffee maker with pods galore.
All guests will have easy access to the main lodge where a private chef will be on hand to prepare your gourmet meals using fresh local ingredients, each to be accompanied by your pick of fine wines from the cellar. You can also request pizzas expertly prepared in the wood-fired oven.
There’s a swimming pool. Of course there’s a swimming pool, around which you can relax on recliners which you can move to the sun traps or shady spots as you prefer.
Other highlights include the billiard table in the TV lounge, and a boma just a short walk from the suites where you can enjoy sundowners and evening meals under the stars. A daily laundry service is included in the price you pay when you book, so if you want to wear a favourite outfit more than once during your stay – no problem.
Waldeck doesn’t just offer luxuries – the team lays on an exceptional range of activities too. You’ll want to go out on safari of course, and expert rangers will lead expeditions out into the bush on twice daily game drives. One departs at sunrise, the other at sunset. Leopard, rhino, giraffe, zebra, cheetah and warthog are among the wildlife known to live in the hills and mountains close by.
Guided walks and bird watching expeditions are also available. Clay pigeon and target shooting is provided for those who want to brush up on their skills.
Stargazing is popular in this part of Namibia, as the lack of light pollution in the skies make the views of the constellations unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. An expert will be on hand to point out the galaxies and stars.
