Against the slope, Timbila Safari Lodge is almost camouflaged into the surroundings but, as you approach, you’ll see it’s really all rather sophisticated.
Modern in style, though suitably rustic using locally sourced timber and tent canvas, your suite includes a large bedroom, ensuite bathroom and a private outdoor deck with a wood-fired hot tub.
The main dining area has an interactive kitchen that serves fine meals along with the fine view you’ve become accustomed to. Below, a wine cellar from which you can select wines (all sustainably produced), a private dining venue for special occasions and a spa.
60km from Omaruru and bordering on Erindi Private Game Reserve, Timbila Safari Lodge is one of four properties on the reserve. It is the luxury option topped only by the Timbila Private Villa - a 5-star, fully serviced, exclusive-use villa. Timbila is called the Home of Second Chances and prides itself on being a destination for purposeful travel. Staying here is a chance to be a part of an incredible safari experience combined with an insight into game reserve management and anti-poaching efforts.
Activities (package dependant) on the private reserve are in open game drive vehicles with a maximum of 6 people per vehicle. Explore the wilderness on day drives, night drives, walking safaris and animal tracking.
Children safaris, private use vehicles and spa treatments are all at additional charges.
The TimBila Nature Reserve by Naankuse spans 33,500 hectares and is dedicated to protecting endangered and vulnerable wildlife, supported by a trained anti-poaching unit. This reserve focuses on providing a safe haven for conflict animals, including lions, elephants, African wild dogs, and white and black rhinos, many of which have been translocated here to escape persecution and drought-related skirmishes with humans.
The reserve is also home to the TimBila Safari Lodge, offering visitors an immersive experience in this remarkable ecosystem. The reserve's creation was spearheaded by Albert and Anneke ten Brinke of the Netherlands’ Ten Brinke Group, who envisioned a thriving wildlife sanctuary. In 2020, they partnered with the Naankuse Foundation, transforming their conservation dream into reality and establishing a vital habitat for wildlife preservation. This collaboration between the Ten Brinke Group and Naankuse represents a powerful force for conservation.
