Something bold, something new.

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

How does somewhere manage to be both futuristic and traditional at the same time? We’re not 100% sure, but it certainly seems that Team Gondwana, the creators of this brand new pod in the desert, have managed it.

The Reverie only started accepting guests in December 2024 for all-inclusive stays, and early signs are that there’s going to be a lengthy waiting list of couples wanting to sample the delights of this accommodation set amid the Kalahari dunes.

Its design is inspired by the lives of the indigenous Khoi San people. You’ll need to travel 20 miles (30km) from Mariental to get here, with your excitement and anticipation sure to be building as you count down the miles.

Arrive, and you might think you’ve been transported to the surface of Tatooine, the desert world of the classic Star Wars movies, with the white domes of the pod standing out on the sandy landscape.

What’s certain is you’ll enjoy privacy. There are no staff or chefs on-site – all your food and drink is prepared and delivered to the pod before your arrival, so your seclusion is assured. You can always contact your hosts by radio for support and assistance if you need it (there’s unlimited Wi-Fi too).

The inside story of the pod

The open plan interior is designed to deliver modern luxury and relaxation for up to two guests. There’s a kitchen with all the appliances and cutlery you’re likely to need, plus a curvaceous dining table and seating giving you somewhere to enjoy your meals.  All food and drink are included in the nightly rate you’ll pay, with a BBQ available out on the terrace.

The bedroom is gloriously comfortable as you’d expect and there’s an ensuite bathroom. The large arched windows give you uninterrupted views of desert wildlife as well as sunrises and sunsets.

The best views of your private watering hole are to be found from the recliners on the edge of your plunge pool. Expect giraffe to be among the regular wildlife visitors for a drink and a refresh.

You decide

Speaking of refreshment, there’s no risk of you ever feeling as parched as the desert landscape around you, as you can tailor your dining experiences to suit your needs. The option to eat out under the stars is certainly on the menu. You also get to pick and choose from a range of activities to fill your days during your stay. Private game drives, or self-guided hikes are among these. Be sure to sample the Sundowner experience which lets you view the red dunes as the sun goes down. But if you just want to relax in and around the pod, no problem.
