The adventure begins the moment you land at Kasane Airport or Savute Airstrip in the Chobe National Park, when you’ll experience your first game drive en route to this exclusive semi-permanent camp. Situated close to the Savute Channel, which feeds into the Savute Marsh, the camp offers the ideal base to explore the region – a remote and wild corner of Chobe National Park that extends from the park’s northern boundaries to the Linyanti River. The mysterious channel flows and dries up intermittently, often for decades and seemingly unrelated to rainfall.
Home to one of the largest concentrations of elephant in Africa – and exceptional numbers of elephant-hunting lion – a stay here will put you at the heart of the wildlife action, with only your tent canvas separating you from the Botswana bush. This is glamping at its best, with private butler service, comfortable beds, an ensuite bathroom, and outdoor shower with steaming hot water on request.
While there’s no Wi-Fi or electricity, charging units and USB ports are available on the safari vehicles. Post-game drive, enjoy ice-cold pre-dinner drinks, followed by a wholesome meal cooked over coal, and shared around a blazing fire. After dinner, look up to explore the crystal-clear sky with your guide.
Tailored game drives allow you to track wildlife unique to Chobe National Park, as well as over 450 bird species. Other highlights include a half-day photographic boating safari on the Chobe River aboard the custom-built Pangolin Voyager, accompanied by a professional photographer and guide; exploring the symbolic San rock paintings at Gubatsa Hills; and a drive to the giant baobabs on the edge of Savute's expansive plains.
