Your room is a delightful thatched bungalow with cool, dark natural stone floors, thatched roof and a private balcony shaded by the spindly tamboti and terminalia trees characteristic of the greater Etosha area. Spotless en suite bathrooms have hot running water, flushing toilets and good showers. Air con and heating, coffee station and a huge bed complete the picture of comfort in the bush.
Of the four bungalow sizes and configurations available, the pick of the bunch would be the bush suites - they’re huge. With two rooms, connected by the en suite, they are great for families or two couples travelling together who don’t mind the inter-leading bathroom. For extra luxury and the same generous proportions the honeymoon suite, with delightful outdoor slipper bath and shower, is of course the best of the lot.
The main living area at Forest Camp is a large, open-sided thatched roof on gnarled poles. Thanks to the short rainy season, dining is mostly al fresco on the lodge deck surrounding a kidney-bean plunge pool. Onguma Private Game Reserve is a 34,000-hectare annexe to Etosha National Park with a hotline to the pans, waterholes and abundant plains game including rhino, lion, elephant, leopard, giraffe, zebra, oryx, many antelope and hundreds of bird species both resident and migrant.
