A large, friendly lodge with 114 rooms, Mokuti is the perfect base for daily safaris into Etosha, whether you’re self-driving or heading out with their guiding team.

Mokuti Lodge is a long-loved classic on the edge of Etosha National Park - in fact, it’s the closest lodge to the Von Lindequist Gate, just 40 metres from the entrance near Namutoni Fort. Set on its own 4,300-hectare private nature reserve, Mokuti feels like a cool, green oasis in the middle of the bush. Think thatched buildings tucked into sweeping lawns, shady trees, sparkling pools and a warm Namibian welcome that makes “Mokuti” (Ovambo for in the forest) suddenly make perfect sense.
Rooms are set in chalet-style buildings throughout the gardens, each with views over the bush or the beautifully landscaped grounds. Décor is simple, comfortable and unfussy - exactly what you want after a long day in the park. There are 106 double/twin rooms and 8 family suites, the latter offering a separate bedroom and sleeper couch ideal for younger kids.
Dining options are generous: the Itulye Restaurant serves international, African-fusion and homestyle Namibian dishes as buffets or set menus; the Oshana Pool Bar handles relaxed poolside meals; and the Enota Safari Bar is your go-to for an after-drive drink or cigar. It’s a big lodge, with plenty of space to spread out and eat where the mood takes you.
And then there’s the SkyBoma - Mokuti’s elevated, open-air dining deck, rising eight metres above the plains. Fire pits, warm evening breezes, live grilling stations and those endless Etosha stars… it’s rustic, atmospheric and one of the lodge’s most memorable experiences.
Daily guided game drives into Etosha are the heart of the experience here, offered morning, afternoon or as full-day trips in open safari vehicles. Being this close to the gate means no time wasted getting into prime wildlife areas - Etosha’s elephants, lions, leopards and endangered black rhino are right on your doorstep.
On Mokuti’s private reserve, you’ve got plenty to do between drives:
For something deeper, join a guided bush walk with the Hai//om people - a fascinating look into traditional knowledge and culture.
Wellness is also on the menu: the Omulilo Spa offers treatments for weary safari legs, and the fully equipped gym keeps active travellers happy. Sundowner spots abound - Namibia does the sky magic for you.
Mokuti Etosha Lodge is committed to sustainability through a range of eco-friendly initiatives. The lodge features a tree walk where guests can learn about indigenous trees, and it has planted Spekboom, a plant renowned for its exceptional carbon dioxide conversion. Mokuti has comprehensive waste management practices, recycling wet waste for compost and fertilisers, while sending dry waste to recycling plants. Sewage water is recycled and used for gardening, and grey water is reused in the grounds. Energy conservation is prioritised with motion-detected LED lights in public restrooms and a solar plant powering operations during the day. The lodge supports local communities by sourcing fresh produce from nearby farmers and employing local artisans and the Hai//om people for cultural experiences. With its own greenhouses for growing herbs and vegetables, and an earthworm farm for compost, Mokuti also minimises plastic use by providing glass water bottles and biodegradable packaging. Beyond hospitality, Mokuti Etosha actively contributes to conservation, education, and biodiversity through initiatives such as water salination plants, supporting local schools, and operating a reptile centre.
