That’s right, the Onguma Dream Cruiser is a suite on wheels, a romantic night out beneath the stars somewhere in the private Onguma Reserve. It’s mobile so the spot is secret and secluded. You have the bush all to yourself.
Imagine camping a night in a rooftop tent. Now remove the tent and add a comfortable double bed with quality linens, sheltered by a canvas gazebo and draped by mosquito nets. No doors. No walls. Just endless views from your bed and the small deck setup for al fresco dining at sunset.
Built on two levels with your “suite” on top, the bottom level consists of a full bathroom with shower, flush toilet and a basin. The Onguma Dream Cruiser is camping gone glamorous. Well, it’s the idea of camping without actually camping and is rather a more luxurious sleepout option.
There’s always a ranger on call via radio if needed, but otherwise you’re on your own. You’ll enjoy a picnic-style meze food selection with pre-selected chilled drinks at sunset, then it’s a night under the starry Namibian sky and in the morning you’ll wake to hot coffee or tea with homemade rusks and a magnificent sunrise before returning to your Onguma lodge for a full breakfast.
The Onguma Dream Cruiser is booked as an add-on to your lodge stay at any of the Onguma properties and has to be booked in advance (or on arrival at the lodge direct, but best booked in advance to avoid disappointment). It’s at a surcharge fee. Worth every cent if you ask us. This is something you won’t get to do elsewhere in Namibia and we’re almost sure it’s unlikely you’ll get to experience it anywhere else in southern Africa or the world at large. OK, we might be reaching a little, but you certainly won’t get to experience the bush like this unless you are actually camping yet here you have added luxurious comforts, you don’t have to set up camp and as night falls you’re surrounded by the sounds of the wilderness so close on the eastern edge of Etosha National Park.
There really are no words for this romantic adventure. It’s one you have to take our word for and come experience it for yourself. It’s special.
Note: Not for children under 16 years. Limited to a maximum of 2 people.
The Onguma Dream Cruiser is the activity. Since this is booked in conjunction with one of Onguma Nature Reserve’s camps, all your activities during your stay are as can be done with the lodge (either optional extra or included depending on the basis on which your stay is booked and the lodge you are staying at).
