Nxamaseri Island Lodge

Nxamaseri Island Lodge

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

One of the first lodges established in northern Botswana, Nxamaseri was built on a densely forested private island. The secluded lodge is surrounded by the permanent waters of the Okavango panhandle, north of where the river fans out into the delta. The airy thatched main area sits in a forest of jackalberry trees – two of which even infiltrate the lounge – and comprises a lounge, dining area, and a small library. There’s also a small pool to cool off in on hot days, and a fire pit out front, with a jetty jutting out into the river to welcome arriving guests.

Teak walkways link the main area to 9 tented chalets, set beneath a forest canopy. Made of canvas and thatch, each chalet features an ensuite bathroom, with bedrooms opening up to a private deck from which to enjoy the panhandle water views. And if it’s a chilly night, you’ll find a hot water bottle tucked in under your blanket at night!

Nxamerseri now boasts a wellness spa and yoga deck allowing guests to unwind surrounded by breathtaking views and natural beauty.

Activities

The waterways around the lodge offer some of the best fly-fishing in Botswana, and trying to catch one of the area’s indigenous Tiger Fish proves to be a thrilling experience for both pros and novices. The lodge also offers spectacular birding throughout the year, and is the perfect base from which to glide down the river aboard a mokoro. Guided walks are offered on nearby islands, and a full-day hiking trip to the sacred Tsodilo Hills – the cultural heart of the San Bushmen – will give you the chance to see and feel the essence of an ancient culture. As a wellness-focussed camp you can also enjoy spa treatments, yoga and healthy menus.
