On the edge of the Kwando River, this pair of luxury lodges looks west over the river to another wildlife reserve in Botswana. You can be assured the territory around you is wild and the domain of nature less the heavy hand of man.
The main lodge has 10 chalets and the sister Lianshulu Bush Lodge has 8 units all dotted along the river, built of stone and thatch with floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors. Enormous beds with elegant mosquito drapes, a full en suite bathroom and a private verandah that faces the river create an air of simmering excitement.
The main lodge features a swimming pool and a large verandah with a view of the river and an elevated game viewing deck; a cosy lounge and dining area with an open fireplace make an inviting picture in the cool winter evenings.
The private concession at Lianshulu is in the eastern region of the Caprivi, an area rich in wildlife and birds. Two habitats - riverine and savannah - combine and support all of Africa's famous game and over 400 species of bird - including many rarities and endemics - have been recorded.
