La Plume is on a working farm and hosts, Karin and Bartel, are your genial entrance into the world of country living with its fresh air, early starts, languid evenings, great open spaces and deep personal connections.
La Plume Guesthouse has 12 spacious rooms, decorated with a quaint combination of Victorian antiques, Karoo florals and chunky wooden furniture. All have en suite bathrooms, air conditioning, satellite TV and complimentary tea/coffee. A cottage has two suites with separate living areas ideal for families or couples travelling together
Breakfasts are a feature of Karoo farming life and yours will keep you going throughout the day. Dinners must be pre-arranged but they are well worth the forethought and it means you don't have to drive into town.
Bartel is the farmer and he will take you on an interesting tour of his commercial farm which stocks ostriches, cattle, vines and alfafa. Oudtshoorn, with many restaurants, galleries, shops and museums is a short drive from the farm.
Farm tour; hiking trails; birding; nature walks; mountain bike trails; nature reserves; Cango Caves; ostrich farms; wine estates; hot springs; picnics; Oudtshoorn town; swimming pool and farm kitchen dining
