Whether you’ve just landed, are waiting for a connecting flight, or you’re soon to depart Johannesburg for pastures new, this airport hotel in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, provides comfort and convenience in equal measure.
The location is a clincher for people wanting easy access to OR Tambo International, as the terminal buildings and Gautrain Airport Station are walkable from every one of the hotel’s 365 rooms – is that one for each day of the year?
Actually, this is the kind of hotel people stay in for perhaps one night or two, and rarely for the long term. But should you need to book a few days or longer, there’s plenty here to help you feel at home.
Handily, the hotel’s lobby has screens that are linked to the airport’s flight information boards, so there’s no excuse for not knowing your departure lounge number or flight time.
City Lodge goes all out to attract jet-setting business visitors, with three boardrooms in the hotel that can host impromptu or planned meetings, plus full-blown conference facilities with two courtyard areas seating 24 and 22 people respectively. If your event is a big one, both those areas can be combined to accommodate 46 if our maths serves us correctly.
And hotel patrons have no excuse for not attending meetings looking their best, as the lodge’s team supplies a same day laundry and dry cleaning service to ensure your appearance is tip top.
There’s also a fitness room and a café, restaurant, and sundowner bar. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all served here, but you could venture into the airport for more choices when it comes to places to eat and drink as well as shop.
The hotel pool - which is just for hotel guests by the way - has a deck around it, ideal for lounging around in the sun with something sparkling in a glass if you have time. Did we mention there’s a casino nearby? Maybe we shouldn’t have.
Each of the rooms is ensuite with a queen bed or twins. Most rooms have a bath and a separate shower, although some just offer the shower.
Of course there’s a TV in every room and tea and coffee making facilities to give you a boost when you wake up, handy if you’re jetlagged. The desk and chair creates space for you to get your laptop out, and the Wi-fi is free and unlimited, handy for uploaders, downloaders and anyone needing to take part in a video meeting.
Guests at City Lodge Hotel at OR Tambo International Airport can enjoy a variety of activities in and around Johannesburg. The hotel's proximity to the Gautrain station provides easy access to Sandton City, a premier shopping destination featuring over 300 stores, including luxury boutiques and diverse dining options. Art enthusiasts can explore Johannesburg's vibrant art scene, with numerous galleries and cultural centres showcasing contemporary African art. For those interested in history, the Apartheid Museum offers profound insights into South Africa's past. Additionally, the nearby Eastgate Shopping Centre in Bedfordview provides a variety of retail and entertainment options. The hotel's location ensures that guests have a wealth of activities to choose from during their stay.
