Camp Namibia isn’t fancy but everything you need is there: a complete kitchen, a comfortable bed and a warm shower. It’s camping without having to do any heavy lifting and pitching of tents - unless you opt to stay at one of the four campsites.
The 12 “glamping” suites are not much more than a wooden deck and canvas tent, but the draw card here is not the level of luxury. It’s about being immersed in the wilderness, where wildlife is welcomed right onto your doorstep. You have a place to cook and wash up, a twin or double bed, a sleeper couch and an en suite bathroom which is all pretty convenient.
Relax at the main lapa where you’ll find a swimming pool, lounge, fire-pit and lush lawn overlooking the river. There’s a pizzeria bar and a restaurant offering light meals and refreshments as well as basic supplies and curios. The nearby waterhole offers a viewing deck and its the spot to find yourself come sunset.
Head off on game drives, the in-house concierge will advise where to go and how this works or book guided activities with the lodge. Explore the bush and the abundance of wildlife. This is why you’ve come and also why you’d choose to stay.
Go explore the reserve on a self-drive basis or enquire to book activities with a lodge guide including wilderness drives, guided nature walks, animal tracking, discover ancient rock engravings and take a look at the ‘behind the scenes’ magic of how the reserve is managed and run.
Just sitting overlooking the waterhole is in itself an activity and best enjoyed at sunset so be sure to leave time enough for this and for relaxation to ensure you get to do and see it all.
