Covering a vast area over 750 sq km, the plains are flooded during the rainy season between December and April and as they dry out, large herds of plains game move in and flocks of waders descend.
The view from your private game viewing deck at Busanga Bush Camp, shaded by giant fig trees, stretches endlessly across the game-rich plains. Accommodation in this remote camp is simple and comfortable with en suite safari tents and an open-plan living area with a magnficent dining boma beneath a giant fig and lit by a marvellous hurricane-lamp chandelier.
Game drives, night and day; walking safaris; excellent birding
The game viewing at Busanga Plains, situated in the northern section of Kafue National Park, offers many opportunities to see some of Africa's more rare and elusive animals. Vast herds of puku and red lechwe congregate in the swampy marshlands; roan and sable favour the open plains and Busanga is your best chance of seeing cheetah and wild dog in the whole of Zambia.
Elephant, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, impala and a great variety of birds make up the supporting cast of this all-star show in one of the most rugged and remote sections of the Kafue Park.
