Short of a four hour drive from Windhoek or a quick flight in on a small plane, you find yourself worlds away from reality, taking in a view many wish they could capture. Dense greenery is your secret to a private hideaway. Red roofs peep out from the bush. Beneath you follow the stony path to your chalet. Secluded with a view. Do with it as you please.
The eight chalets consist of a bedroom with a fireplace and an en suite with walk-in shower. Ideal for the hottest and coldest days, this area is known for both. Each chalet is made of stone and brick with terracotta tiles to keep cool when the sun is out. Enjoy your private patio and own splash pool. If cold, cosy up next to the fire with blankets.
It's no surprise at this altitude, the WiFi only works in the restaurant. Your chalet, a great place to escape from the real world and the digital world. Add the view and animals right by your doorstep. Get lost in total relaxation.
This is not the only way to admire the setting, the restaurant has a 270-degree view. Best yet, you need not think about a thing while you enjoy it, since you will be feasting on a set menu. Enjoy a drink from the lounge and bar area. If you need to remind yourself where you are, just look out onto the observation deck at sunset (with your sundowner) and admire the beautiful colours with your feet dipping in and out of the pool.
If you arrive before three (and you have made a booking), you can go for a Rhino drive with the chances of seeing other animals such as a giraffe, oryx, eland, kudu or blue wildebeest. If you are more of an early bird and you wish to spend the afternoon by the pool, there is a Rhino tracking activity in the morning too. You will be tracking like the Bushmen did, so you do need to be quite fit for this one.
You can also go on a plateau hike to learn about the plants and animals in the area while the guide gives you insight into the Herero life and culture. Or dive even deeper and go on a 5 hour cultural trip to experience their lives on a farm near Okakarara (note you will need your own car for this one).
Lazing around or out on activities, the birdlife and scenery here are spectacular.
