4 stars

A family-friendly lodge in Big Five territory.

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Set beneath the dramatic Drakensberg Escarpment, in the 9,000-hectare Karongwe Game Reserve, Shiduli has an easy-going feel that makes it particularly good for families, couples and groups travelling together. There’s plenty of space to settle in between game drives, while the reserve itself delivers the real safari appeal, with excellent wildlife viewing and a location close to the Greater Kruger ecosystem.

Accommodation is spread across 20 thatched luxury suites, along with 10 interleading suites that work especially well for families. For a little more seclusion, there’s also the spacious Royal Suite, a lovely option for honeymooners or anyone wanting extra privacy. The rooms are large and comfortable rather than overly fussy, with calm, neutral interiors and all the modern essentials. The Royal Suite adds a few indulgent extras of its own, including a private plunge pool and outdoor shower.

At the centre of the lodge are spacious lounge and dining areas overlooking the gardens, where buffet-style Pan-African meals are served. In-between game drives, guests can indulge in nurturing spa treatments, relax beside the main pool, and enjoy drinks from the pool bar. A separate children's pool and immersive Little Paws children’s programme allow young guests to splash and play.

Built at water level, the photographic hide gets you and your lens up-close to visiting elephants and other thirsty animals. Gin tastings and interactive cooking experiences add a fun touch, and evenings are often spent dining around the traditional boma, sharing stories of the day's safari beneath the African sky.
