In the heart of Namibia’s wilderness on the Otjiwa Private Game Reserve, this new villa that opened in Spring 2025 is one of the most recent additions to the impressive Otjiwa Collection. And it’s ready to welcome a family or small group of friends.
As a new property, the villa prides itself on being self-sustaining. Power is supplied by solar energy. Rooms are decorated and furnished using local materials, and the food your private chef serves up will be organic and sourced locally where possible.
It’s all located in a part of the world frequented by leopard – one of the Big Five. They like to hide their prey in the trees close to the villa, so you’ve a good chance of seeing one or more. And you might get lucky and spy rare white rhino thanks to the tracking skills of one of the experts who’ll happily take you on a guided tour of the bush.
The villa bears all the hallmarks of a modern, boutique home from home. The windows in all rooms are large, allowing for panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
There are four bedrooms, each sleeping two guests and featuring an ensuite bathroom. The living area has a dining table with seating for all guests, somewhere you can sit and enjoy food prepared by your private chef.
Afterwards, you can retire to the comfy chairs in the living area with fireplace, or head outside into the private courtyard, dominated by a swimming pool and made even more memorable by the incredible, uninterrupted views of the Namibian Savanna.
Game drives are popular with guests at the villa. Lasting two hours, they’re timed to give you the best chance of seeing leopard, white rhino and springbok, as well as some of the natural bird habitats and man-made water dams in the area. On the Sundowner Drive, you should get to see one of Namibia’s famous sunsets, as long as the weather is behaving itself.
Walking safaris are also an option, and you can book specific Rhino Tracking experiences where expert guides will help you get as close as safely possible to these magnificent creatures.
The villa team will happily arrange horse riding adventures into the wilderness for groups of up to four. These are one hour guided sessions with refreshments provided.
You can also head by car to Ombu Village where guides will introduce you to the village team who’ll take you on a tour of their homeland, giving you a chance to find out more about the culture, customs, traditions and architecture of the region. This is very much a hands-on experience during which you’ll be encouraged to discover the joys of milking cows and wearing traditional dress. Milk churning and holy fire rituals are also on the itinerary.
If you want to up the pace of your activities, e-biking is a great choice. You can explore various trails with or without a guide, each of which will afford you views of forests and mountains while you get an electronic boost to your pedal power, so however tricky the terrain becomes, you can let the bike take the strain.
Back at the villa after your adventures, you can book spa treatments that’ll relax you from top to toe. Why not try a 40-minute deep neck and back massage one day to relax the muscles you’ve used staring up into the sky birdwatching, and a 30-minute foot and lower leg treatment to soothe you after e-biking the next?

At Otjiwa, sustainability and conservation go hand in hand. Guided by the principle of meeting today’s needs without compromising the future, the lodge is steadily working toward becoming entirely self-sustainable, inspired by Robert Swan’s words that “the greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.” On the 10,000ha reserve, wildlife is kept wild and free, allowing guests to experience the wilderness as it naturally is. Steps have been taken to reduce waste, such as providing reusable glass water bottles in rooms and selling homemade iced tea in returnable glass bottles. Alternative, low-impact activities like horseback riding, guided cycling, and game walks offer ways to experience the bush without the footprint of vehicles. Otjiwa also produces much of its own fresh produce on-site - from herbs and vegetables in a greenhouse to fruit trees and microgreens - lowering food miles, reducing plastic packaging, and ensuring guests enjoy delicious, fresh meals. Central to the lodge’s conservation work is the protection of the endangered White Rhino, a species once reduced to fewer than 100 animals but now numbering around 16,000 thanks to conservation efforts. At Otjiwa, this mission is embodied by William, who has dedicated over 29 years to protecting the rhinos, knowing each animal by name and caring for them as family. His devotion reflects Otjiwa’s ethos: protecting wildlife not for personal gain, but for the benefit of future generations.
