More urban square-foot garden than anything organic, the name is a tad mis-leading. The décor relies on screed finishes, polished surfaces and vibrant colours offsetting a palette of industrial greys and natural wood finishes.
So, having set the record straight, opt for Organic Square and you're in for a delightful stay at an intimate owner-run guesthouse with modern rooms, a comfortable bed, a refreshing shower and excellent service all in a most convenient central location.
The two properties situated in the same street, although under one name, run as separate guesthouses. Organic Square 1, the original house, has six double or twin rooms and one family room. Organic Square 2 has two triple rooms, eight double or twin rooms, three family units and one three bedroomed self-catering apartment.
Breakfast is a healthy continental affair and, although not entirely organic, you could do far worse. Alternatively Swakopmund must have more coffee shops per capita than any other town in Africa so you might want to hit the town a few blocks away. Dinner options are equally impressive with our current favourites being The Tug, Altstadt and The Brauhaus all within easy walking distance of Organic Square Guesthouse.
Walk into town and explore Swakopmund's galleries, museums, craft markets, shops, cafés and restaurants; hit the beach and swim (if you're immune to cold water) or walk along the miles and miles of unspoilt coastline; adventure and nature activities abound including quad bike tours of the dunes and the highly recommended living desert tours and Walvis Bay marine cruise.
