Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Mapula is a small, remote and rustic safari lodge in a private concession in the Okavango Delta. Accommodation is in charming thatch chalets on stilts in a thicket of African hardwoods and its ecological footprint is very small indeed - read limited electricity supply, solar-heated water and a refreshing absence of modern trappings.

Your room looks out over the swampy floodplains of the Okavango Delta and the Moremi Game Reserve. The main living area is a large deck with open sides and a thatched covering keeping the lounge and dining areas well chilled. In front is an open deck and the scene of many a great dinner while the wildlife eases into the picture for the duration of your stay.

While the accommodation may be on the rustic side - we believe this enhances the adventure if you're prepared for it - you are here for the wildlife, the birdlife, the untouched beauty of the African wilderness for which it certainly gets a high five.

Mapula is a year-round camp in a 12,000ha private reserve featuring the complete range of safari activities: day and night game drives, walking safaris, mokoro water safaris, birding, motorboat safaris and fishing. Wildlife includes elephant, lion, hippos, crocs and plenty of plains game while the birdlife in this watery wilderness is not surprisingly prolific.
