Elephant Valley Lodge

Elephant Valley Lodge

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Accommodation is in en suite safari tents - built on wooden decks beneath the shade of knobthorn trees. With just 20 tents, the lodge is more intimate than some of the higher priced options on the Chobe River.

The tents' furnishing and amenities are simple and comfortable with hot running water, flushing toilets, fans, safes and mosquito nights for a peaceful night's rest in the Botswana wilderness.

Elephant Valley Lodge overlooks a waterhole frequented by elephants and many species of antelope and interesting nocturnal creatures unaffected by the lodge 10 metres away.

The living area looks out over a manicured lawn to the waterhole and features several lounge areas, an open campfire area, dining areas - al fresco dining is a feature here - and a swimming pool.

Activities

Elephant Valley Lodge is inside the Kasane Forest Reserve, a beautiful heavily wooded area adjacent to Chobe National Park and an important migratory route between Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe and the lush waterways of the Chobe and Linyanti.

Elephant Valley Lodge offers its safari activities in reverse order to the usual Chobe game viewing schedule in order to avoid the busy safari periods. You will still see other safari vehicles and boats but not as many as usual.

Instead of setting off in the evening, the Chobe River safari takes place in the morning - most other lodges do this in the evening to get the sunset.

Along with fewer boats to spoil your view, the morning boat safari has the added advantage of staying on the river longer, not having to return at sunset and exploring more of the river's banks.

In the afternoon, the game drive into Chobe National Park takes advantage of the relative quiet again and ends with a picnic and sundowner drink at the Chobe River's edge when most animals come to drink.
