Luxury mobile camping tent at night

Botswana Mobile Safaris

Ever wanted to explore the wilderness the traditional way as a family or small group of friends? It’s all possible on a Botswana mobile safari.

These are flexible and authentic safari adventures in which an itinerary specifically designed to meet your needs and interests will be drawn up, enabling you to experience your dream African adventure for real.

These safaris really give you the chance to get close to the diverse wonders of the African bush as you explore the wilderness and areas of Botswana’s big national parks, including Chobe, Moremi, Nxai Pan, Savuti, and Kalahari.

Want to see the Big Five? That can be arranged. More interested in casting your eyes to the skies to view the bird life? No problem. You can book an experience that will satisfy your adventurous spirit, whether you’re looking for a traditional safari experience with camping in tents that are pitched on the ground, or something a bit more glam.

It’s a true opportunity to taste different areas of the wilds of Botswana as you disconnect from the modern world, out of the reach of Wi-Fi. It will be just you, a few other guests, your support team and the great outdoors.

Highlights

  • Design your very own Botswana safari experience – often, there’s no set itinerary to follow
  • Camp in traditional style or go glamping, it’s up to you
  • Decide what you want to see and where you want to go – explore the plains, go on game drives, relax on a boat cruise, you choose
  • An experienced crew sets up camp and cooks for you in a different location every night
  • Head out in 4x4s or on foot to explore the local wilderness during the day
  • Enjoy an excellent chance of seeing the Big Five if that tops your list of things to do

Accommodation

Camps are pitched for one night then moved to another location for the next night, with meals cooked around a campfire, and the sound of wildlife in its natural habitat all around you.

Specific details of where you’ll sleep will vary from camp to camp, location to location, tour to tour. But in each case, you’ll have an experienced camp crew who will travel ahead of your party by truck and set up the tents ready for your arrival. Trust us when we say these experts can turn a space in the bush into a fully fledged camp with tents, a kitchen and an open fire within a matter of minutes.

Sleeping will most likely happen in camp beds covered by duvets, which will be plenty warm and comfortable enough to give you a good night’s rest. Some camps offer proper beds in which you can relax and recharge.

Your ensuite facilities will be basic but far from crude, with a bucket shower (hot water provided), canvas wash basin and WC.

The team will take great care of you, bringing you refreshments when you need them, whether that’s a glass of wine, or a heart-warming hot chocolate.

In the morning after you head out on the next leg of your adventure, the expert crew will get back to work, dismantling the camp, loading everything onto the truck and driving it to your next overnight stop-off point, so it’s all ready for you to enjoy when you arrive.

Food & Drink

Your support team will prepare, serve and tidy up after your meals which you can enjoy around the fire or in your private tent if you prefer. You can let the team know your refreshment preferences when you book, so there’ll always be something you like on the menu. And it will most likely be made from fresh, local produce.

Activities

The beauty of Botswana mobile safaris is that you have a big say in what you do and where you go. Whatever you’re interested in seeing, and whichever route you want to take, it’s likely that a bespoke tour can be arranged for you. The same private guide will accompany your group wherever you go, so you’ll get to know the person who’s leading your adventures, and they’ll get to know you, what you like, what you want to see, so you’re in safe and experienced hands, and have the best chance of seeing the things you want to tick off your bucket list.
