The standards, amenities and services at these government-owned bungalows are limited to the essentials - and that adds to the excitement of rugged isolation.
There are two ways to drive to Terrace Bay: along the coast and through Damaraland. The coastal road goes from Swakopmund past Cape Cross giving a sense of ever-growing isolation as dune after dune lines bay after bay of nothingness.
If you are driving from Etosha or anywhere north and east, you will arrive at the Skeleton Coast Park gate via Damaraland and from there it is about 70km to Terrace Bay.
You can also fly to the camp in a chartered light aircraft.
Accommodation is in two- and three-bed bungalows with en suite bathrooms. The main living area comprises a restaurant, two bars, a recreation room and a small shop.
Fishing; bird watching; exploring the dunes; hiking in the Uniab Riverbed; game viewing hide
This is a place for the independent adventure-seeker and activities include fishing, bird watching, exploring the adjacent dune sea, hiking in the Uniab River delta and game viewing from a hide in the delta.
