Olaf's Guesthouse

Olaf's Guesthouse

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

There are sandy beaches like Milton and Saunder’s Rock which have tidal pools and kids’ playgrounds. Drive for 10 minutes and you’re in Cape Town city centre.

Located in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, Cape Town and its surrounding areas, offer a wide variety of activities that cater, well, for everyone really. Kite board,  shark dive, or learn about the history by visiting places like Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was one of the many prisoners.

Raymond McGovern is the owner of Olaf’s. He’s lived in Cape Town since he was young and knows a lot about this place. Read up. Test him. One thing’s for sure he and his staff can help you book activities and tours, as well as  recommend the best shopping and dining Cape Town has to offer.

Activities

Clearly you have both Sea Point and Cape Town city centre so you can explore as much as you want to.

If you want some help, the guesthouse runs tours which you can join. They do a half day or full day tour of Cape Town city centre. You’ll go to the Malay Quarter and one of the townships. You could also arrange to see the Winelands or the Cape Peninsula.

Between September and December it’s whale season. You can book a day trip to Hermanus to see them.

There are also half day or full day tours to the Cape Peninsula. On your way you‘ll pass the twelve apostles. Then Hout Bay, Chapman´s Peak Drive, Llundadno and Kommetije before arriving at Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope. This is the most south western tip of the African continent. You’ll then visit the penguin colony at Boulders Beach and Simons Town. Finally, you’ll stop at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, the largest botanical garden in South Africa. You can also add the option of a stop at Groot Constantia Wine Estate. Here you can learn about the history of wine making at the oldest wine estate in South Africa. Then you get to drink some. Win win.

If you want more wine, fine, fine. Go on a half or full day (full day! full day!) wine tour. You‘ll visit a small selection of wine estates and farms in the Cape Winelands Region, most travel through Paarl, Franshoek and Stellenbosch. Lap it up, literally and also gasp at the gorgeous scenery. You’ll see Cape Victorian and Cape Dutch houses and learn about the history of wine making in South Africa.

Want safari? Oakey doke. Again, half day and full day tours are available. You can get lucky and see the Big Five in almost all the game reserves around Cape Town. That’s lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo. There are many other wonders though, including zebra, giraffe, crocodile and antelope.

Now you’ve seen them, you’re going to want to photograph them. So, you can do a full day photo tour. These have been created by photographers for photographers. Go in search of the light. You can choose between Cape Peninsula, Township or Wineland tours. Every tour is guided by a photographer who can show you how to take excellent pictures.

Noticed that big guy? Yes siree, that’s Table Mountain. Quick, quick go on the guided walk for a half or full day. Clearly, as you’re going up a mountain, you need a good level of fitness but you’ll be chuffed with the views as you go.

Half day township tours are available too. You’ll go to Langa, Khayelitsha and Gugulethu and visit the District Six Museum. This area was a former township destroyed during the Apartheid.

You can, of course, please yourself with all that this part of the world has to offer. Activities include great white shark cage diving, tandem paragliding, scuba diving, sand boarding, surfing, sky diving, helicopter rides, quad biking and kayaking.

Or just chill. Visit the V&A Waterfront and enjoy a sundowner in Camps Bay.

Oh and finally, if you’re a sports fans, Cape Town Stadium is only a 5 minute drive from Olaf’s...
