A new addition to Namibia’s safari destinations

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

It’s no accident that the creators of this new camp, which opened in May 2026, chose this location for the latest addition to the Namibian safari scene. It’s been carefully selected for the beauty of the views, its proximity to the Kwando River to the west and the Linyati to the south, and because of the diverse wildlife the area attracts.

Let’s get specific. Nkasa Linyati is an unfenced camp located in the 30,000 hectare Nkasa Rupara National Park. It’s the only camp on Nkasa Island. So if you’re looking for new and exclusive, you’ll get both here. It’s also where important conservation work is taking place, as elephant migrate to Angola, Botswana and Zambia through the region, while buffalo and other threatened species have space to live and breed.

In fact, the area is home to the biggest concentration of buffalo in Namibia. They share the wetlands, rivers, forests and grasslands with game such as warthog, zebra and wildebeest. That’s important because those healthy populations attract the predators many safari enthusiasts want to see, namely lion, leopard, hyena, and occasionally wild dog. You’ve also a good chance of seeing hippo, red lechwe and sitatunga during the wet winter months

This is also one of Namibia’s best areas for birders, with over 430 different species recorded at the last count, so you’ve a good chance of seeing the likes of Pel’s fishing owl, crane and crake.

6 tents to call home

We promised you exclusive, and with just 6 tents in camp, each accommodating a maximum of 2 guests in either a double bed or twin, that’s what you’ll get. All tents have canvas walls and are built on stilts which improves the views across the floodplains. The interior designers have gone big on the natural look – think cane chairs and woven baskets. You also get an ensuite bathroom with shower, and a second shower outside.

Contemporary communal areas

Sandy pathways lead from your tent to where you and other guests can gather to relax, eat, swim and exchange stories of the wildlife you’ve seen and hope to see. There’s a dining terrace shaded by canvas roofing, plus a lounge and bar. The pool is pretty big given this is a 12-guest camp, and wi-fi is available throughout, so you can share the photos you take with friends and family back home.

Activities

Given the prevalence of predators and the glut of game in the area, drives in 4x4s out onto the plains are obviously a big thing at Linyati. Adventures depart camp daily for daytime and night drives. It’s recommended you sample both to increase the diversity of animal species you’ll see.

The nearby rivers play just as important a role when it comes to activities. You can choose to fish, cruise or relax aboard a canoe-like mokoro as a guide gently punts you along tranquil water channels, pointing out all kinds of wildlife as you go.
