Teufelskrallen Tented Lodge
Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Close to the small town of Kalkrand, which is really not much more than a hamlet and an old train station, this is by far the best accommodation option in the area.

Ideal for couples, small groups and individual travellers in search of something quiet and 'out there'. Under the blue sky by day and the star-rich sky by night. All alone, it's only you, nature and the passing springbok.

Teufelskrallen consists of 6 tented cabins, a touch above basic, offering all you need with a view that leaves you in awe. The private bathrooms connected by a wooden walkway make it different from the usual 'en-suite', a fancy take on an outhouse if you will. Rustic and uncomplicated but comfortable.

Relax in the garden oasis and enjoy the farm style charm at the Old Farmhouse which is the main lodge 3km away. This is reception and the restaurant, so it's a short drive or a nature walk away to the civilising effects of other people, telephones, doors, windows... This contributing to the isolated feel of the lodge itself. Tranquillity. Peace and quiet. The horizon as far as the eye can see. Try take it all in. With a deck on both sides of your cabin, you're guaranteed an impressive sunrise or sunset. Revel in it - in solitude.

Facilities

6 tented cabins on stilts with private bathroom and shower; sitting area; fridge; coffee/tea facilities; shaded decks; restaurant; bar; lounge; swimming pool; safe at reception & WiFi at main lodge area.

Activities

Morning nature drive; sundowner drive; guided or unguided nature walks. Enjoy the surrounding nature, no matter what activity entices you. Keep a look out for an array of wildlife which includes giraffe, zebra, eland, oryx, wildebeest, nyala, springbok, ostrich, impala and many fascinating birds, insects and reptiles.

All activities depart from the sister property, Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge.
