Royal Chundu

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

If bespoke luxury and stylish accommodation is your thing, yet you still want the thrill of game viewing, the excitement of tiger fishing and the glorious view of Victoria Falls on your doorstep, then Royal Chundu is just the place to be.

Two luxurious lodges, right on the water’s edge, with forest canopies and green vegetation on all sides, you can be sure of nothing but privacy, seclusion, traditional heritage and warm African hospitality.

Island Lodge located on Katambura Private Island, surrounded by rivers, towering Baobab and age old Jackelberry trees feature four villas each with an impressive deck extending into the river, open air bathtub and glass walled shower complete with air conditioning and intimate boma for romantic dining under the stars.

The River Lodge with 10 spacious river suites look out onto the Zambezi River and Matetsi Private Game Reserve, with stylish accommodation and comfortable luxury in natural surrounds commanding views all round - a little busier and less intimate than the sister lodge.

Mealtimes is no ordinary affair, with two dining rooms overlooking the Zambezi river, dressed in your best attire, you can feast on classic pan African cuisine in the elegant indoor restaurant or under the stars in the chief’s open air boma.

The menu stays true to the Zambian cultural and heritage using fresh local supplies and fish caught right in the river.  Dinner, cultural dances and traditional cuisine around the roaring fire conclude your evening meal.

The harmonious architecture blended with the natural surrounds is one of peace and seclusion, set between the Chobe National Park, a short drive from Livingstone and 30km from Victoria Falls.

Taking a cruise along the riverbank is a great way to spot zebra, elephants and giraffe, while submerged crocs wait patiently and grunting hippos watch curiously as you float on by.  The piercing call of a fish eagle adds to the mystery as you wonder what nature will unveil next as you explore the region’s diverse beauty.
