Ondudu Safari Lodge

Ondudu Safari Lodge

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Not far from the small town of Omaruru, you'll find Ondudu Safari Lodge (previously The Erongo Wild) nestled in the boulders of the Erongo Mountains. An area that is achingly beautiful, dramatically quiet and ideal for walking and hikes.

The eden on which it is found, The Erongo Mountain Nature Conservancy, consists of 30 private landowners with one goal: to conserve the natural beauty of this incredible place and, if you experience it, you'll see why.

Built from natural stone with a sprawling thatch roof, the main lodge area is inviting and offers a cool respite from the heat - it can get hot in these parts. Raised walkways and uneven stone steps take you to your tented chalet. With only 12 tents, this intimate lodge offers you a peaceful stay with all the basic comforts you would need including extra blankets for chilly nights. But wait, there's also The Treehouse which offers something different. It's even more secluded and you can self-cater or enjoy a barbecue whilst you watch the sun setting from your elevated deck.

Birding here is amazing with over 260 species recorded in the area. You'll likely see the rock dassies and there's other small wildlife to be spotted too. This area is home to many plant, reptile, mammal and bird species that either are or very nearly are endemic to Namibia. If that and the scenery aren't enough, there are ancient bushmen paintings found in the surrounds as well, some of which could be up to 6,000 years old. Impressive.

It's a slow-the-pace, put your feet up and relax kind of atmosphere here. Exactly what you want when on holiday.
