Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

On the eastern border of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve in Botswana, Deception Valley Lodge makes an entrance. Inspired by African art, print and colours blending subtly into the environment, this five-star lodge makes relaxing pretty easy, 400km away from town and gives you a chance to meet the locals.

Here you can stay in either a twin-bedded room or a family room. The twin-bedded room (obviously) consists of a double bedroom with a Victorian en-suite as well as an outdoor shower and lounge.

The family room can accommodate a family of four and this is where the 5-star comes in, you get your own chef, game ranger and services. Also, did we mention the splash showers? Just a bit of extra pampering...

The main area consists of multiple lounging areas, a bar and a restaurant. We told you this is a place for relaxation. Emily Le Rouz is the in-house chef and she really knows how to put a spin on traditional "bush" food that will make you want more and more. The outdoor area is simple with a pool and a Boma fireplace. It's easy, outgoing and goes great with a glass of the good stuff.

Your evening meal might even be enjoyed around the boma fire, three courses to be exact with silver and fine china to set the mood in the bush.

For those who need or rather, who want the postcard moment, some guides will take you out on a safari to witness icons such as the black-maned Kalahari lion or the cheetah. For a more cultural experience, you will be welcomed to the bushman tribe to learn about tracking and survival skills. It will also be an opportunity to see how they hunt and gather.

While the food is one to remember, the private chef and game ranger makes you feel spoiled and the safari is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The price, although very steep, is definitely something worth considering when planning a holiday like this.
