The modern and luxurious lodge at Deception Valley is an oasis in a dry, arid environment on the northern–eastern boundary of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. A unique destination where the focus is on the Bushman experience and encountering wildlife such as black-maned Kalahari lions, cheetah, leopard, wild dogs as well as giraffe, elephant, blue wildebeest, gemsbok, springbok, ostrich, zebra, kudus and even sightings of brown hyena, pangolin, aardvark and aardwolf from time to time.

Game drives are led by professional guides and Bushman trackers, so the chances of seeing some incredible sightings are better than good and the experience is something quite spectacular. Go at night to reveal life beyond daylight and to spot the nocturnals on your check list. A bushwalk with the San gives you a look into how these ancient people have survived and thrived for years in an inhospitable environment you’ve now come to explore.

It’s a small lodge consisting of only 6 suites and a family suite which means all the space here is shared by only you and any other guests in camp (up to a maximum of 16 guests at any given time). Besides the staff, who call this home, that’s a staggering 2687,5 hectares of bushveld per person if you need to get a perspective on it.

An owner-run lodge, Deception Valley is all about the heart and soul of the surrounding environment and everything that makes this place so special. You’d never say you were only a 30 minute flight from Maun. It’s hard to believe that there is any civilisation out there when staring into the endless nothingness around you.
