This smart guesthouse has a distinct nautical theme with large circular windows and chunky wooden doors. Each suite is named after a shipwreck claimed along the Skeleton Coast before the days of GPS and the Discovery Channel. They are well-appointed with CD players, mini fridges - some have fully equipped kitchenettes - open fireplaces, private patios and bathrooms with a view of the sea.
Breakfast is as hearty as you like and taken in a bright dining room with a view of the sea and a fireplace for misty mornings. In the middle of the crescent is a wad of thick turf of which umbrellas, loungers and a good book make good use.

Beach Lodge is about 5km from the town centre and serves only breakfast, though portable barbecues - called them braais if you want to earn points - are available for you should the urge grab. Swakopmund is an action-packed holiday resort with a little of everything thrown in. Your time here will always run out before you've seen and done everything you want to.
