Waterberg Andersson Campsite, Waterberg

This is the baby brother to Waterberg Plateau campsite. Up the hill, further up the valley. Named after the first European to set foot here in 1851. Charles Andersson was an explorer who wrote about his travels in Namibia. Old Charlie boy was the illegitimate child of a British bear hunter and his Swedish servant. Jeez. That must have been tough in the 1800s. No wonder he went a-wandering.

This place is tucked away at the base of the Waterberg Plateau. The spring water pool is the place to be if you're a bird. Or a cow. Or a kudu. You'll be camping on sand, surrounded by bushveld. At night watch out for massive, spiky rodents. This place is porcupine party time.

4 well spaced pitches under the trees.

There’s a shaded roofed area with a table, bench, tap and nearby braai.

Ablutions are central with a private section for each campsite. Hot and cold water.

Restaurant and activities at the main lodge are subject to availability. At the lodge restaurant there are only seats available if the lodge is not fully booked. Table reservation is not possible.

This is a remote corner of planet Earth. Enjoy the silence, gawp at the long roots of the trees stretching down to reach their drink at the Waterberg cliffs, tick off the animals you spy.

There are walking trails near the campsite - one leads to the lodge where the view is beyond stunning.
