Klein Genot, meaning "simple pleasures" is a small and luxurious hotel in the Cape Winelands region of Franschhoek. With just eight spacious, bright and breezy suites - each with a private entrance - the accommodation is quiet, tranquil and intimate.
Situated on a 30-hectare wine farm, surrounded by orchards, vineyards, gardens and rivers, the beauty and tranquillity of the place are an elixir against the frantic world. Each suite has luxurious beds in either twin or double configurations, a log fireplace, underfloor heating, air conditioning, heated towel rails, an entertainment centre (along with a huge selection of music and movies), massive en suite bathrooms with separate showers and a private balcony and entrance.
The restaurant is a cosy, homely affair with much of its hearty grub coming from the estate's own gardens; the wine produced at Klein Genot is young but daily growing and well worth a taste along with the somelier-selected South African classics from the menu.
The only sounds you’ll hear in the Klein Genot Wine and Country Estate are those of your stomach rumbling from one organic home-grown meal to the next; a place of beauty, serenity and an enormous wine cellar.
Relaxing and rejuvenating spa treatments; estate tours; gentle walks; hammocks dotted about; river frontage; Franschhoek town is a short drive from the wine farm where you'll find restaurants, galleries, museums, craft shops and all around you are wine farms framed by craggy mountains.
