Little Kulala Lodge

Little Kulala Lodge

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Built for the heat, the 11 suites are on raised decks and have deep thatch, canvas sides and floor to ceiling glass windows to showcase the desert views and open ended landscape.

Every fine detail has been thought out. Elaborate. Elegant. Exclusive. The comforts of air conditioning, a private plunge pool and outside sala area. En suite bathrooms with private outdoor shower. The verandahs have a generous thatch covering at the back, a flat roof for a romantic night under, quite possibly, the most magnificent canopy of stars you'll ever see.

The neutral, light earthen colours bring a sense of a cool and crisp relief to the heat of the arid desert. A mix of textures to delight, in authentic representation of surrounding nature.

The rustic-looking main lodge is also on a raised deck and has a thick covering of thatch with gnarled trees for beams and open sides looking out over the waterhole and desert beyond. The living area comprises a shaded swimming pool, bar, wine cellar, curio shop, library, lounge and indoor and outdoor dining areas.

Sustainability

At Little Kulala Lodge, Wilderness Safaris continues its strong commitment to sustainability through a variety of eco-friendly initiatives. The lodge operates on solar power, reducing its carbon footprint and ensuring that energy use is in harmony with the surrounding environment. Water conservation is a key focus, with greywater being recycled for use in the lodge’s gardens and other non-potable applications. The lodge also promotes sustainable food sourcing by growing its own produce in on-site gardens, reducing its reliance on external suppliers and minimizing transportation-related emissions. Waste is managed responsibly, with recycling programmes in place and efforts to reduce single-use plastics. The design and construction of Little Kulala Lodge incorporate locally sourced, sustainable materials, ensuring the structure blends seamlessly with the desert landscape. By supporting local communities through job creation and sourcing goods from nearby artisans, Little Kulala Lodge contributes to the economic well-being of the area. Beyond the lodge, Wilderness Safaris actively supports the Children in the Wilderness programme, which provides life skills training, leadership development, and environmental education to children from villages neighbouring Wilderness landscapes. Additionally, The Wilderness Trust, the organisation's independent fundraising arm, extends support for vital conservation initiatives. These combined efforts reflect Wilderness Safaris’ broader commitment to conservation and sustainable tourism, ensuring that both the environment and local communities benefit.
