Leroo La Tau

Leroo La Tau

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Leroo La Tau has 12 en suite thatched and glass-fronted chalets on wooden platforms along a small cliff with an endless view over the Makgadikgadi plains and overlooking the Boteti River.

A classic Botswana safari lodge with a large central living area on wooden deck supporting massive tree-trunk pillars and a thick head of thatch to keep the interior cool by day and warm by night (with the assistance of the cozy fire).

The rooms are spacious, immaculate and offer a bush view from your bed or your private deck. There's no air-conditioning in the room, but you do have a fan and if you slide open the glass doors you invite the breeze and the endless landscape right in.

If you're here during migration time of the year (starting from December through to March), you are perfectly located to witness herds of up to 20,000 zebra on the move. In addition vast flocks of flamingo and large herds of springbok and wildebeest, followed closely by predators, makes for spectacular game viewing in this wet season.

Activities

Morning and afternoon game drives in the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park; zebra and wildebeest migrations; night drives; boat safaris (water level dependent) game viewing from the lodge overlooking the waterhole and cultural visits to the Khumaga Village.

Note: Due to the remote location of the lodge, the Makgadikgadi Pans themselves are not visited on daily scheduled activities from Leroo La Tau.

The dry Boteti riverbed in front of Leroo La Tau lodge has a waterhole that attracts large herds of zebra and wildebeest that in turn attract the terrifying attention of the local lions, leopards, spotted hyenas and jackals. Activities include scenic game drives and a possible sleepout on the pans (only on a 3 night stay) and night drives where genet, caracal, jackal and other nocturnal creatures catch the light.
