Agama Lodge (previously known as Agama River Camp), once a small rustic camp is now a charming, home-made lodge, 50km from the entrance to Sossusvlei Park in the Namib-Naukluft Nature Reserve.
Named after the colourful lizards inhabiting the desert, Agama Lodge is unpretentious with chalets lining a dry riverbed near Sossusvlei.
Recently upgraded the lodge now consists of 20 en suite standard chalets with a further 20 en suite deluxe chaletss for those wanting the extra added comforts. All well spaced for privacy with an open view of the savannah ahead and the silhouette of the mountains in the background. The rooftop of your chalet, a viewing platform and an option to sleep out under the stars.
The main lodge has a lively restaurant, bar, deck and an infinity swimming pool. Several hiking trails lead directly off from the lodge or venture an hours drive to the famous sand dunes of Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei.

A small, tented-style camp with a low-density setup and minimal infrastructure, Agama keeps its footprint relatively light. It operates with simple, efficient systems suited to the desert, and supports local employment, though there is limited visible conservation or community programme integration. Sustainability is scale-driven rather than innovation-led.
