GocheGanas Lodge is a luxury wellness spa and private game reserve just outside Windhoek but worlds away from the hustle and bustle.
The lodge is set on a hill which makes waking up to panoramic views out over the reserve, an every-day thing. Each chalet is large and spacious with an en-suite bathroom fit for a king. A sunken bath beneath a skylight is the perfect place from which to view the night sky, which on a clear night offers up a spectacular view of the Southern Hemisphere constellations.
The wellness spa at GocheGanas is well-equipped with 11 treatment rooms, a sauna and a heated indoor pool. Treatments should be booked in advance since this spa is not for the exclusive use of guests only. The outdoor pool overlooks a waterhole where you can expect to see some of the 25 different game species found on this reserve, a breath-taking experience especially when it is coupled with the setting sun in the background.
The main lodge and lounge area is cool and comfortable with earthy tones and natural materials helping to make the atmosphere as relaxing as possible. The dining area extends outside so that dinner by candlelight on warm evenings offers the perfect setting for the simple but well-made meals.
GocheGanas will ease you into a safari mood with morning and evening game drives. The reserve has a number of antelope species as well as giraffe, zebras and smaller mammals. The stars of this reserve however have to be the white rhino family which form part of a wildlife program which focuses on getting rhinos to breed successfully on the reserve.
Mountain biking safaris; early morning and evening game drives; game walks; a visit to the caves which are believed to have been the home to stone-age humans. With over 25 game species, the Nature Reserve provides a great opportunity for spotting white rhinos, leopards, cheetahs, black wildebeests, zebras, elands, kudus, giraffes to name a few. Bird-lovers will also find their pleasure with over 150 bird species to be found.
