Three hours drive south of all the other lodges on the nature reserve, Boulder's Camp is as far removed as it gets. Here you are surrounded by nothing but wide open spaces, granite outcrops and picturesque plains. Wolwedans Boulders Camp is about as far from civilisation as you can get and still have ice in your G n' T.
Far enough apart, each of the five suites is raised on a wooden deck and features a wrap-around balcony, roll-up sides, en suite bathroom and the best in luxury furnishings. The main lodge at Wolwedans Boulders Camp is a communal living area with yet more decking, library, lounge and a cosy indoor dining area for when the winter scuttles your al fresco dining plans. Request suite one if you prefer your own plunge pool as suites 2 & 3 and suites 4 & 5 share a plunge pool respectively.
The NamibRand is a privately owned nature reserve that covers 171,000ha of the pro-Namib desert east of the Namib-Naukluft Park, which forms a 100km border with the reserve. Combined, these reserves cover a staggering 51,700sq km – an area larger than Switzerland. So to say that Wolwedans Boulders Camp is all about peace, tranquility, escape and majestic scenery would be a mild understatement.
Now only bookable on a minimum of 3 night stay with set arrival dates every Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. For a 4 night stay arrival is on a Thursday or Sunday.
Nature walks; scenic drives; safaris tracking down desert-adapted flora and fauna; E-biking; star gazing and sundowners.

Sustainability is at the heart of Wolwedans, recognised as a Global Ecosphere Retreat by The Long Run. The lodge promotes a holistic approach to conservation that enhances livelihoods and fosters intercultural dialogue. During the Covid lockdown in 2020, Stephen Brückner established The AridEden Project to balance people, planet, and profit in all of Wolwedans' initiatives.
Guests contribute to sustainability through a nightly Sustainability Levy, which includes a park fee and supports the Wolwedans Foundation’s 5C’s Sustainability framework. The lodge employs an all-Namibian team and runs the Desert Academy for hospitality training, alongside various skills development projects. It also contributes to the conservation of the NamibRand Nature Reserve, promoting sustainable tourism and community resilience.
The Wolwedans Foundation focuses on long-term community outreach and education, providing accredited qualifications to young Namibians in hospitality and culinary arts. This initiative has supported over 300 trainees through the Desert Academy and the Nice Academy. The Foundation levy on guest invoices helps fund vocational training and community upliftment, reflecting Wolwedans' commitment to inspiring a sustainable and inclusive approach to tourism.
