Oddballs' Camp

Unlike most safari lodges in Botswana's Okavango Delta, Oddballs' is a dressed-down rustic tented camp that pours its heart and soul into creating a fun and rewarding Delta experience rather than trying to blow you away with fine dining and lavish accommodation.

Accommodation Description

Your stay at Oddballs' is in a large dome tent erected on an elevated wooden deck beneath a stretched canvas roof under a grove of hardwoods. Your en suite bathroom is open to the sky - yet totally private - with hot water from a bucket shower and flushing toilets. A covered patio in front opens onto the broad expanse of the Okavango Delta and the tents are well spaced apart for maximum enjoyment of nature.

The living area is a lively mix of reed beach hut and tented safari lodge with your game viewing "vehicles" - dugout mekoro - moored on the sand at your feet ready for action at a moment's notice.

Oddballs is environment and community mad. Entirely solar-powered your water, lights and cooking make no sound and emit no fumes. Likewise, your amazing guides with such awesome names as Photo and Knowledge, are true men of the delta having grown up in the nearby village. Here is a perfect example of tourism helping both people and wildlife where everybody's a winner. Especially you.

Your game viewing activities are purely people-powered with mokoro trails being the obvious highlight of your Delta safari. Your guide poles you through channels and lagoons pointing out birds, reptiles, plants and mammals while you sit back, relax and soak up the pure tranquillity of it all. Often your mokoro ride will stop for a walk on an island and while you will see game, being this deep in the Delta (on Chief's Island) it is not of the teeming, big cat variety: you are here for the Delta experience not just game viewing. Having said that, elephants are common as are hippos, buffalo, crocodiles and many plains species including giraffe, zebra and antelope large and small. More elusive but still in good numbers you may see lion, leopard, smaller cats and mammals and of course there hundreds of birds to be spotted.
