Sossusvlei Scenic Flight
I had an amazing experience on a scenic flight to Sossusvlei, starting and ending in Swakopmund. In two and a half hours I saw more of the Namib Desert than I could have imagined. A bird’s eye view of where the desert meets the sea, along with the mystical fairy circles…historical shipwrecks…and more…
Other highlights on this low flying scenic flight were the Kuiseb River, Kuiseb Canyon, the natural border of the dune formations, the desert research station at Gogabeb, the highest dunes in the world, the amazing Sossusvlei, Diamond Camps, Sandwich Bay, the Salt mines close to Walvis Bay and the Harbour town of Walvis Bay.
Alison Berg says that the view of the fairy circles from the air is the most amazing for her on this flight… Olga Hamata said that the flight has to be the best way to appreciate the scale and beauty of the Namib Desert! After an early morning start you find yourself floating above the dunes as the sun rises over them...brilliant.
Last but not least is the last highlight before landing at Swakopmund airstrip, seeing the old German colonial town of Swakopmund from above…beautiful town situated next to the Namib Desert where the dunes meets the sea… a must see for any photographer.
A memorable experience I would recommend to anyone visiting Namibia.
