How to get here and how to get around when you arrive
The international airport is about 40km from Windhoek. Commercial shuttles operate between the city centre and the airport and most hotels offer transfers. If you are on a guided tour, your guide will meet you at the airport.
In Windhoek several taxi services will get you around easily. Taxis cannot be hailed, they can only be requested by telephone where you give your current location and a taxi will come to you. We do not recommend public transport as it is unreliable and requires a fair amount of local knowledge.
