Money Matters

Where to get it, where to put it.

Foreign exchange is freely traded in Namibia although we recommend you buy South African Rand if you intend to bring cash so you can re-convert unused money back to your original currency.

Travellers' cheques, credit cards and debit cards are accepted in most hotels and lodges and the larger towns. In the more remote areas, cash is the only means of payment.

To establish the current exchange rate in your home country or on the internet, use the South African Rand (ZAR).
