Client's Comments

"We all enjoyed this amazing tour, all the different impressions every day and the closeness to nature."

Desert Car hire: They picked us from the airport and took us back to it – very friendly. With the car everything was ok, new tires, tents and sleeping bags were very comfortable. Closing the zipper of the tent was a little bit difficult, but not a problem. The cover sheet of the tent in front could not be fastened well. As we had wind coming from ahead, the cover sheet was blown off. We had to use an extra belt to fasten it. Without this belt we would have had real problems.

Some of the fuel stations in Caprivi ran out of Diesel – people should be aware of this potentially problem.

8th August 2014 - Terra Africa Guesthouse, breakfast included (2 rooms) >>> very nice welcome, near Desert Car Hire

9th & 10th Aug - Sesriem Campsite >>> We enjoyed that campsite and the view into the landscape. As this was our first night with the tents, we had no chance to be in time for the sunrise in the morning at dune 45. But we climbed dune 47 after sunrise instead. This was even a better adventure as we were the only people there on this early morning. We had very cold nights.

11th August - Sandfields Guesthouse, breakfast included (2 rooms) >>> Very nice and familiar atmosphere. Informative desert tour at the next morning with some of the typical animals including chameleon and gecko.

12th August - Cape Cross Campsite >>> Worth visiting with children, campsite was convenient, temperature at night doable - not colder than Sesriem.

13th August - Twyfelfontein Lodge (2 rooms) >>> Impressive location, very good dinner

14th August - Okaukuejo Campsite >>> Nice with its waterhole.

15th & 16th Aug - Onguma Campsite >>> Nice campsite, direct in the bush with a lot of birds and their noises. Maybe with regard to the time you need to explore Etosha, it would be preferable to have one night more direct in Etosha (Halali?)

17th & 18th Aug - Nunda Campsite >>> This was my favorite campsite (No. 2, direct at the waterfront). A great and peaceful view across the river with the Hippos and their noises very close to the tent at night. Boat cruise and game drive were wonderful!

19th & 20th Aug - Chobe Safari Lodge Campsite, includes 2x 3h Game Drives and a 3h Boat Cruise >>> The campsite itself was not very nice. Also camping guests were not welcome at the pool. Our campsite was directly beside a barbwire. However the game drives and boat cruises were great. We saw Lions, Hyenas and Wild Dogs – great! Maybe you may look for an alternative camping possibility at Kasane.

21st & 22nd Aug - Senyati Safari Camp, 1x Family Room self-catering unit, Victoria Falls Day Trip included >>> This is a location which we really want to recommend. They have a waterhole direct in front of a bar where lots of elephants come to in the afternoon and night. They even have a hide, where you get as close to the elephants as about 5-10 m. We had a nice chalet but also the camping sites looked very convenient and nice. I was glad that we didn’t take 4 nights in Chobe Safari Lodge but 2 nights in Senyati instead.

23rd Aug - Planet Baobab, breakfast included (1 x family unit) >>> Nice huts. We were not aware that we couldn’t cook there, however the dinner was really good.

24th & 25th Aug - Oddballs Camp, all meals, all activities and flights from and to Maun included (1 x Family tent) >>> Wonderful, friendly, familiar atmosphere, cute little tents, private guides for bush walks – marvelous! We heard a leopard at one night. The leopard visited the kitchen (he liked chicken which was our dinner), we saw his footprints.

26th Aug - Thakadu Safari Camp Campsite >>> Last camping, everything o.k.

27th Aug - Terra Africa Guesthouse, breakfast included >>> friendly and nice, they helped us to arrange a visit at a guest farm with cheetahs and leopards.

28th Aug - End…
