Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 up to 5: Sossusvlei
Departing from either Windhoek or Swakopmund the Namib Desert Fly-in Safari to Sossusvlei and the Namib-Naukluft Park is an essential add-on to any Namibian tour.
On the way: Fly over sheer mountains, gravel plains with cosmic markings and the blonde grass-covered fields of the Pro-Namib between the Namib Desert and the Naukluft mountain range.
When you're there: A short ground-level transfer takes you to your desert lodge where lunch and a cool siesta await. Scenic drives and walks through this unspeakably large nature reserve take you to sundowners: a charming African concept whereby you find a suitably attractive perch to watch the sun go down while quenching your thirst with an ice cold drink.
Optional activities include a day-trip, starting before dawn, to the tallest dunes in the world at Sossusvlei. Spend most of the day exploring the Dead Pan, Sossusvlei and, if you've got the strength, climbing to the top of said tallest dunes – the view at sunrise is worth the effort.
Scenic drives, nature walks, hot-air ballooning or a peaceful afternoon snoozing by the pool are some of the more common activities on offer. Ranging from comfortable to luxurious, the accommodation options all offer efficient service, good food, good wine and comfortable rooms.
