Tongabezi is a secluded safari lodge on the Zambian side of the Zambezi River upstream from Victoria Falls in a private sanctuary of riverside woodland.

Spread along the river, the rooms are delightful African concoctions with open sides, private balconies, large en suite bathrooms and sumptuous beds. Local ingredients keep the design fresh and interesting and the magnificent setting keeps the mood relaxed and enjoyable.

Tongabezi is luxurious. But not your usual air-conditioned, plush carpeted, cable-fed, marble-finished, Dorchester-style luxury. Rather, the luxury is in the romantic setting, the friendly local staff, the privileged views, dining under the stars, watching the river float past from your bed, listening to a hippo munching grass outside and smelling the rich wilderness of the African bush through the open sides of your room.

Other essential activities are lunch on Livingstone Island, hosted by the Tongabezi Lodge, a dip in pools above the falls and the scenic flight over around and almost through Victoria Falls.
