Abalone Guest Lodge
Abalone Guest Lodge is a bright and breezy guest house near Hermanus direct access to the cliff walk which offers the best land-based whale watching in the world. There are several beaches nearby and the lodge has a wonderful view of Walker Bay.
Named after a local mollusc, whose shell is similar to the mother of pearl with a polished glistening rainbow-coloured hologram on the inside, Abalone Guest Lodge reflects the same beauty and simplicity. With gentle pastel colours and plenty of white, the beach cottage effect is complete.
Abalone Guest Lodge has nine en suite rooms with views of either the ocean or the mountains at the back. Furnished simply and comfortably the rooms have large beds, underfloor heating, en suite bathrooms, heated towel rails, satellite TV and tea/coffee stations.
Take your breakfast on the patio or inside the cosy dining area and relax by the sheltered pool at the back with mountain views. Whale watching - from July to November - is the obvious highlight here and if you're lucky to be here during that time you will see whales practically breaching on the sun deck. The cliff path allows you to walk along the bay with an even closer look at these enormous and fascinating creatures.
