Fig Tree Guesthouse
Fig Tree Guesthouse is a stylish, intimate and convenient Windhoek accommodation option on a quiet street and a short walk from the city’s main shopping mall.
With just six rooms - enormous, every one - the Fig Tree is n small, if somewhat functional, guesthouse made suitably stylish by one of Namibia’s leading designers. Large, comfortable beds, colour-themed finishes, a generous sitting area and semi-open plan bathrooms have all the hallmarks of a classic, business-oriented boutique guesthouse. The living areas are well thought out with a large deck and central fire pit dominating the outside pool area. The poolside ‘lapa’ reminds us that we’re in Namibia, home of the tree-trunk bar counter, tree-trunk bar stools and tree-trunk tables and chairs: built for longevity and heavy use more than for style or elegance.
The lounge, again with a cozy log fire, and breakfast room open onto the pool deck and you can request lunches and dinners in advance from chef Cellia and her organic garden.
Fig Tree Guesthouse is a short stroll to Maerua Mall, which has several restaurants, cafés, curio shops, banks, cinemas: a mall by any other name. The city is a ten-minute drive and despite its central location, the property remains a relatively tranquil place to start or end your Namibian tour.
