Impalila Island Lodge
Price: From $345 to $445 (Our pricing)
Location: Caprivi, Wild Namibia
Accommodation Description
Here at the tip of Namibia, there are quite a few anomalies. Why does the Kwando become the Linyanti River; and why then does the Linyanti become the Chobe River? And which country are you in if you're lounging on the pool deck, sipping a gin and tonic while an elephant blocks out the setting sun at Impalila Island Lodge? Is it Zambia, Angola, Zimbabwe or Namibia?
Confusing as these posers might be, you'll have plenty of time to ponder them on your boat transfer to this island of plenty; and even more time once you get there. Sixteen luxurious suites, built on raised wooden platforms, are shaded by a generous covering of green and the large verandahs look out over the passing river - or confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers if you're a stickler for accuracy.
The main lodge is built around an ancient baobab tree and features a massive pool deck and a thatched, open-sided living area that will have you thinking you're a monarch of some bounteous realm where everyone is at your service - including the creatures of the wild.
Food and wine are high on the list of priorities at Impalila Island Lodge and you'll be treated to a variety of venues and a world of tastes that will only exacerbate your megalomania.
