The Burning Shore

The Burning Shore hotel is situated on an incongruous stretch of barren coastline between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.

Our rating: 3/5 Stars
Location: Swakopmund, Namibia

Accommodation Description

Seclusion is secured by the shifting sand dunes of the Namib Desert at the back and the frosty swells of the Atlantic Ocean in the front.

The Burning Shore was made famous by visiting celebrities - who no doubt enjoyed its detached location - and is a luxurious and tranquil place to stay. There are just seven rooms and five suites, each with private balcony, luxurious bathroom and the usual spread of in-room hotel amenities.

In contrast to the rough-and-ready coastline, the décor throughout is plush, elegant and sophisticated. The living space features an ornate cocktail bar; a lounge with a raised fireplace; a silver service dining room and a large terrace overlooking the sea and the glorious sunset.

Facilities

Seven luxury rooms, five luxury suites, all en suite, 60 Seater restaurant, jacuzzi, deck for alfresco dining with direct access to beach

Activities

Restaurants and bars; nature excursions on land and sea; bird watching; ocean and desert adventures; swimming; sports; fishing; diving; historical and cultural tours; museums; galleries; local arts and crafts

The hotel has direct access to the beach and there is a jacuzzi if you find the Benguela Current a little to chilly. Being half way between Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, the list of activities would take a day to read, let alone do. Worry not for we can advise and make bookings to suit your style and interests.
