Accommodation Description
Wolwedans Dune Camp. What's in a name? The 'Wolwe' are not wolves but hyena and you would 'dans' if you stumbled across a hungry one of an evening; the dune is a 250-metre behemoth of shifting red sand and soft blonde grass; the camp rests atop this dune and consists of six luxurious tents on raised platforms that are connected to the sublime main lodge by a series of elevated walkways.
The canvas tents are a flimsy barrier between the endless desert outside and the cosy luxury within. En suite bathrooms are enormous and your view from everywhere is astounding. The living area is all chunky leather couches, hefty wooden tables and rumpled books on weathered shelves.
If the tents are a little too adventurous and the elements a little too close for comfort, go for the magnificent Wolwedans Dunes Lodge which is a sturdier version; and then there is the Wolwedans Private Camp for the utmost in luxury and seclusion. The latest addition to the Wolwedans stable is the eight-sleeper Wolwedans Boulders Camp, about 45km downwind.
