Accommodation Description

The stone-built domes at Rostock Ritz Desert Lodge look like something out of a George Lucas film. The result is a timeless synonym to the ancient desert that stretches for aeons into the hazy distance.

The hut-shaped rooms form a circular courtyard and their private patios look outwards over the Namib. Inside is comfort and convenience all laid out and given a hearty dose of local colour. Each of the 22 rooms has an en suite bathrooms, ceiling fans and solar heated water - there's no shortage of sunshine out there.

The kitchen has built quite a reputation for the lodge and it is a popular lunch stopover with big groups. While the lodge is situated half way to everywhere and is most often a single night's stop, an extra day or two will be well rewarded for there is much to see and do.

Over 30km of walking trails, ranging from one hour to nine, take you through spectacular desert scenery, ancient San rock paintings, springs, mountains and vast plains. And there is always an interesting bird, animal or plant to waylay your journey.
