Namibgrens Guest Farm
Namibgrens Guest Farm is an excellent addition to your self-drive exploration of Namibia. The farm is on the edge of the great escarpment between Windhoek and the Namib Desert; the view on a clear day will have you gasping for the nearest gin and tonic.
The abundant water sources make the region look tropical by comparison to the parched sea of sand below and, if you can stomach the quirky décor which runs into hunting trophies, patchwork quilts and animal print fabrics, you'll be well-rested after a stopover at Namibgrens.
Accommodation in the renovated farmhouse is in 11 en suite rooms; you can also camp alongside in the garden or yonder in a separate camping ground. The guest house has a bar, restaurant, swimming pool, conference room and a handy workshop for on-the-run repairs.
11 en suite rooms; swimming pool; restaurant; bar; conference facilities; camping; airstrip
Overnight hiking trails; bird watching; game viewing; sundowner drives; off-road self-drives; canoeing; rock pools and dams
Hiking trails, totalling 45km and ranging from two hours to three days, have been marked all over the farm. The routes wind through valleys, rocky outcrops and stopping at dams and viewpoints along the way. Overnight huts have been erected or you camp out in the wild - a rare and rewarding experience. There is plenty of water and, in this parched land, that means an abundance of birdlife as well as animals and a variety of interesting plants.
