    - A quirky castle in the desert

Kulala Wilderness Camp is built on a rocky spur that faces west towards the red dunes of the Namib and the spectacular dusty desert sunset.

Each of the ten en suite rooms is built on an elevated wooden deck - for its visual effect as much as the cooling effect - and is draped with an elegant layer of cotton. Canvas sides help to cool the interior and, along with the verandah and flat-topped roof, offer wide vistas of the desert and its magnificent night sky.

The living area of the lodge is built on a wooden platform with a front that opens out to the desert and the pool deck. Stout tree trunk beams and deep thatch add to the charm of the place and the lounge, dining area and bar are comfortable spaces of quiet contemplation.

The Namib is the oldest desert in the world and flora and fauna in this fragile ecosystem have developed fascinating attributes to cope with extremes of heat and extended periods of drought.
